Summer means mosquitoes! There is a little known fact that the mosquito is actually the state bird of Florida. Last summer, and now this one, I’ve been nothing more than breakfast, lunch, and dinner to our little buzzing biters in the back yard.
I have been bitten before, but never like this- down here I get welts that itch endlessly. A few of these monster welts have actually turned into scars around my ankles. I have tried many remedies- many, many remedies- none worked. Last week my friend Kim gave me a tube of her homemade “Itch Stuff”. I had little hope.
A day later, I had to go outside to pet the cats and feed the mosquitoes for a few minutes. There it was, the welt, the itch, the beginnings of an episode of cursing and scratching.
